Spanish Expo, 1994

The interest and publicity generated by the Basmajian’s Paris exhibition in 1993 aroused the attention of an Italian group of aficionados that was sponsoring a large scale exhibition titled “El Mundo Magico de MICKEY MOUSE” – THE MAGICAL WORLD OF MICKEY MOUSE. The Basmajians were approached to participate: their material represented the artistic side of Disney. Memorabilia collectors of all things Disney, especially toys, contributed to the bulk of the exhibition. The original Disney animation and related art of the Basmajian Collection created quit a buzz; the quality of preservation and sheer beauty of its rendering by the Disney artist was so much more than expected. It was one of the real highlights of the exhibition.

The exhibition began in Madrid, Spain, November 10, 1994 at Cuartel Conde Duque and concluded June 4, 1995 at the Central Comercial L’lli in Barcelona, Spain. The Alcalde (Mayor) of Madrid, along with other dignitaries, officially opened the exhibition with great pride. The exhibition was met with much enthusiasm and turned out to be quite a success.

Exhibits were broken down in the beginning of the New Year and shipped to Barcelona and made ready for the opening there which was March 3, 1995.
